Kitchen Remodeling – Day 5 of 17 – Opening Passage in Wall, Electric, Drywall,
We start day five of the kitchen remodel getting some more electrical work done – running a line that will provide electric to the kitchen cabinet peninsula, powering the stove top, a new wine fridge, and a GFCI that I will install at the end of the peninsula. Our next project is further cutting open the wall that separates the dining room from the kitchen to create more of an “open concept” feeling between the two rooms, after we get the area cut out, Neil works on installing some new 2x4s for support and a header as well as trimming out the inside of the new passage. Next we get some work done on drywall: Installing sheetrock, taping and mudding to fill in walls and the new soffit box on the ceiling. The final projects of the day are: Neil grouts the section of the floor tile that is down, and I install edge rails on the soffit box.
